I was browsing through books on Amazon this morning when I found a FREE book. Of course it was for the kindle. Bummer, I don’t have a kindle. Upon closer inspection of the books product page, I saw kindle for the iPhone option. Curious to see how much the kindle app costs I went to the app store. Kindle is a free app! Wowza! On top of that, the book I wanted was a free download and there are a bunch of other free books. Of course I immediately got the app and set it all up. I then downloaded the book I was looking at, and a few others. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I was expecting to have to get my husband to help me with something, but I was able to take care of it all myself. Very cool. Check out the links on my Free Stuff Page.
I was asking my husband a few minutes ago what I should blog about and he said “Not to buy an apple tv.” He has been fiddling with the thing all morning and cursing it. I think that the problem is that he can’t save everything we have onto it. I don’t know anything about it, though.
Well, I feel extremely guilty for losing my phone in the first place but now I feel worse because my husband went out and bought me a brand new phone. I feel like I don’t even deserve it. I would have gladly taken a new sim card and put that into my old phone. My husband can be so sweet.
Not the show, my new phone! Yesterday afternoon we were at the new house getting it inspected. Afterwords I pulled out my iPhone to look for a restaurant in the area to have dinner in celebration of a successful inspection. I somehow lost my phone between the ten feet I was standing away from my car. I didn’t realize until we were at the restaurant. At that point we were all so hungry and tired we just wanted to sit down and eat. Unfortunately, I thought that I had left the phone in the house on the kitchen counter so I was in no hurry to get back and get it. I thought it was safely locked inside our new home.
After dinner we drove all the way back to the house where we discovered the phone was no where inside. I then realized the last place I had it was on the front lawn, so we’re all walking around the front lawn calling it, knocking on our new neighbors doors asking about it and looking all over the street. So it looks like someone grabbed it. Sigh. On top of all of that, my sister-in-law hurt her ankle trying to help me out. I feel just so awful and irresponsible.
Three days ago we signed all the paperwork accepting the counter offer the owners of the house made us! We’ll be closing at the end of the month! Our home inspection went so well, the inspector says he never sees a house that age in that good a shape. It’s like we are buying an old new house since the place is over thirty years old, but everything inside it is new. Biggest problem I have with the house is the size of the kitchen, which is too small, and the big drainage ditch in the backyard. I’m so worried about the kids getting into it, not to mention liability in case someone else’s kids do. At least we are getting a really good deal on the house.
My good friend just got back from being stationed overseas for a year. I took the kids over to her new apartment today to see her. She had been my supervisor when I was still in the military. She looks good and is sort of happy to be back. I’m glad that she is back in the area, we’ll start doing some stuff together. Her new apartment is so cute. It’s cool because it is a two level apartment with two bedrooms. It’s smaller than the place she had last year, but at least she is not on post this time. I’m glad that all is well with her, it’s good to have her back!
A few months ago I was having a very typical day for me. Had breakfast, did an activity with the kids, had lunch, played more with the kids and put them down for a nap. While they were napping I was taking care of some household chores. Just a moment before my husband walked in the door from work, my oldest son woke up from his nap very upset. I don’t know what the problem was, but he was crying so much that he woke the baby. That made him cry as well. So, my husband walks in the door and comes up stairs to two screaming kids. I was struggling to handle the situation and he started helping me, but they were both so worked up that they just kept going. I looked at my husband and said “I gave up working and my career for this. To stay at home and listen to two children screaming…. and I love every minute of it.”
I’ve just learned about this research into aging that is happening right now and the exciting breakthroughs that are happening. You tend to be highly skeptical when someone tells you they have made a potion or pill that will make you live longer, or make you thin, or cure this or that. However, the research that is going into Resveratrol looks so hopefully promising. I’m so tempted to buy one of the Resveratrol miracle pills that are out on the market right now, but I think I will wait until this pharmaceutical company produces a product that is FDA approved. They still have clinical trials going on right now with real promising results in the diabetes community and they are starting trials in the cancer community now. This 60 Minutes video sums up what I am trying to say.
Update: I just went back and re-read this post and realized that I sound like a fucking infomercial. Ew! I do take this with a grain of salt, sometimes I just get excited about stuff and tend to gush about it.
So, before the new iPhone came out in June, my husband pre-ordered one. Once it was released and he got it all set up he told me he would set up his old phone for me. Right after that I had a family emergency and left for a month and a half. I got back at the beginning of August. Since it had been so long we had both forgotten that he was supposed to give me the old iPhone. A couple of weeks went by and he started talking to me about selling the old phone. I was confused and asked him about what happened to the original plan. So he set it up for me then. I’ve been using the thing ever since. It’s pretty cool. It’s nice being able to check my email all the time, although I hate to type using the touch key pad. I much prefer to use a keyboard as I find something very satisfactory in hearing the click-click of my keystrokes. Well, so far so good with the new iPhone!
This website is my latest thing. I don’t know if they actually donate the rice they say they do, but the definition game is pretty fun and it makes me feel smarter. After I joined the Army I felt like my IQ went down, I had a harder time remembering things and words that I used to use I coudn’t remember anymore. My vocabulary went way down. Using this website is helping me, I think.
