My New Baby Carrier

A lot of women get obsessive about certain items once they have a baby, for example, strollers or diaper bags. For me it is baby carriers! With my first child I had four different baby carriers, an obscure one, the Ultimate Baby Wrap, a Korean-style carrier and a Mei Tai. My second son (who is now 5 weeks old) is very heavy for a baby. When he was born he was almost eleven pounds, and he must be thirteen pounds by now. Because of this I needed to have a more comfortable carrier. So, today I took the boys to Buy Buy Baby and got myself the Ergo Baby Carrier. I have been doing research on this carrier for quite some time and because the baby’s head was bouncing around in the Mei Tai I decided it was time to just go ahead and plop the money down on one, and I must say it was worth it!

Even though the Ergo is so pricey, the fact that it is so comfortable makes it worth it! My first carrier was so uncomfortable I had to replace it. the Ultimate Baby Wrap is very comfy at first, but it takes time to put on and easily bunches making it uncomfortable over time. The Mei Tai just simply does not have enough padding to support a new born baby’s head. The Ergo is super easy to use with its buckles and adjustable straps. The infant insert makes it so that I can do a lot more stuff with the baby on and I do not have to worry about his little head bobbing around too much. This thing is so super comfortable, I highly recommend it! Check out the link to learn all about it! http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/

Wiccan Rosary

So my Mom made these absolutely beautiful Wiccan prayer beads for me. I love it, she put a lot of thought and research into its making. I can’t wait for her to mail it to me or to get home to New York to pick it up! My Mom is going to be starting a business making beaded jewelry very soon. As soon as she gets Alain Beaded Jewelry off the ground I will have links to her website. She makes these beautiful, very elegant necklaces that are so simple to put on. I will have to post pictures of me wearing the two that she already gave to me.

On a completely separate note, I have noticed that my blog has a very “house-wifey” feel to it. That’s probably because for the time being I am a housewife. After spending the past six years taking pictures for the Army I am a little burned out doing it. So for the time being look forward to more Better Homes and Gardens-esque posts, although I have not completely abondoned my photography! As soon as I start getting interested again I will be putting pictures up! In the mean time I think I will put up some of my favorite old pictures.

Update: My brother is visiting me and brought the prayer beads for me. They are even more beautiful in person! My Mom said she is also going to knit a small satchel to keep them in so they are not ruined. She has also made a gorgeous necklace for my brothers girlfriend, this looks beautiful as well.

Pineapple Cherry Dump Cake

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Last night I decided to finally try making a dump cake, something I’ve been meaning to try for a few months now. I don’t know why I waited so long since this cake was so stupidly easy to make. It was nice because my 22-month old son “helped” me make the cake. I really love to involve him with cooking, it’s good for his prefrontal cortex. Here is the recipe, which you can actually find all over cooks.com and other recipe sites:

1 can crushed pineapple (20 ounces)

1 can cherry pie filling (20 ounces)

1 box of yellow or white cake mix

1 stick of butter

Dump all of the ingredients in the order listed into a 9 x 13 greased pan. The butter should be either cut up into small pieces and placed all over the dry cake mix, or melted and poured over the cake. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for forty minutes to an hour.

See, stupid easy!

My New Car

Ok, so I haven’t updated in a while, but I’ve been very very very busy! Maybe I’ll post about it all in the future in more detail, but I’ll put it this way; one car accident, separating from the Army, one motorcycle accident, getting REALLY sick, one new baby being born via emergency c-section, recovery and my current big news: MY NEW CAR!! I got a 2006 Ford Focus with just about everything you can get in a car, my oldest son especially loves the DVD player! I am so jazzed because this is the newest car I have ever owned and I LOVE it! Also, how can you not love a car that’s color is named Merlot?

Update October 8, 2009: It has been a few months since we purchased the car and I have to say that I am still as pleased as punch with the purchase. There are about two or three things that I would change about the car, but they are such small potatos details that it’s not even worth mentioning.
